We had a great turnout for the 2019 Saugatuck Douglas Women's March, despite some rather blustery and blizzard-y conditions. Elizabeth Estes did a fantastic job capturing the sentiments of the crowd with her speech! 

Every year the West Michigan Fire Prevention Council hosts a fire prevention parade. After the parade they do demonstrations for the public to show kids how to evacuate a house on fire, cut a car up, and do a side-by-side burn demonstration to show the difference between a sprinkled and un-sprinkled fire. 

I created this video to help the general public understand what is required to establish a water supply, when there is not a fire hydrant at the scene of a fire. The fire department has to setup a pop-up pool of sorts. While one truck fills it, another empties it almost as fast. A large fire can require trucks to rotate at a pace of one every 5 minutes to keep a constant water source available. That can easily continue for 12+ hours before a fire is fully extinguished.  

The Maplewood Hotel is located right downtown Saugatuck, Michigan. The owner wanted a video that would highlight the rich history and highlight the newly renovated "boutique hotel" style.

Saugatuck, Michigan has much to offer in the way of shopping, eating, attractions, excursions, and fun activities. The Inn of Saugatuck is your perfect home base to enjoy all the fun our small town has to offer. Located right in the heart of downtown, it is perfectly situated to keep you close to the action. 

I created this video for the local CVB to promote our Venetian Festival. 

I am so spoiled by my access to this view through the Saugatuck Township Fire District...front row in the fire boat beats all others! 

AAA Michigan awarded Graafschap Fire Department a Traffic Safety Grant, to put toward the purchase of a Paratech Vehicle Stabilization Kit. 

Carl Hein from Apollo Fire Equipment trained Graafschap and their mutual aid partners, Saugatuck Township Fire District, on the use of the equipment. 

Graafschap, Saugatuck and Hamilton are working on a unique  collaborative resource project, to outfit a heavy rescue truck. This essential equipment will be added to the mutual aid rescue vehicle, spreading the cost and benefit across multiple jurisdictions. 

Bed and Breakfast owner Jane Verplank has been working hard to refinish her Inn for the last several years. When she decided to rename it, the Inn of Saugatuck, she hired me to help her with re-branding strategy. 

In addition to building her a new website, I created this video to help showcase the Inn and the area. It has been a useful tool on websites and social media. 

She has seen a significant uptick in bookings. 

Riveer needed a video to document the various features of their Total Aircraft Washing System (TAWS®). 

Twenty years ago my mother started the Douglas Halloween Parade for Adults. October was notoriously slow in town, so she wanted to add something fun to help bring people to town. Boy did she ever! The weekend now routinely pulls anywhere from 7-10,000 people to town each year!  

I took over managing the parade in 2012 and in 2015, created a new family friendly event the night before called Glow in the Park. Both events have been great economic drivers for the communities of Saugatuck and Douglas, Michigan. I manage all the marketing and produce all the videos for the events. 

The Saugatuck Township Fire District was dispatched to a roll-over accident on I-196, that required shutting down the expressway, to land a helicopter on the highway. 

My footage of the rescue was featured by several local news stations and made the rounds on social media.

One of the greatest jobs I've ever had is working for the Saugatuck Township Fire District (STFD) as the staff photographer.

When we received a Traffic Safety Grant from AAA to purchase some new extraction equipment, we filmed this side-by-side demonstration with the old versus new equipment, as a thank you.

​AAA liked the video so much they sent it out to all their employees nationwide. 

Winter tourism in Saugatuck-Douglas, Michigan is highly under-rated, if you ask me! The towns have many wonderful things to see and do, including enjoying a winter concert performed by the Lakeshore Community Chorus.

Set to their original music, I created this video to help share a glimpse of what the community offers in the "off" season. 

Being a first responder and fighting fires is serious business, so we try to sneak a little fun into our routine now and again!

The Saugatuck Township Fire District has a program to install FREE smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Each year they get together to do a sweep of mobile communities to make sure they have up to date and functioning alarms. 

I always get the song "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" stuck in my head. The fire board chair knows it and often reminds me... just in case I've gotten it out of my head, so the crew  agreed to help me get her back with this rendition. Ha! Ha! All in good fun! 

The Saugatuck Douglas Rotary Club sponsors the Mt. Baldhead Challenge each year. Each year I volunteer my time to help shoot the event. 

I created this video for them in 2016 to help promote the run. 

One of the perks of being the staff photographer for the Saugatuck Township Fire District, is getting to ride on the fire boat for Saugatuck's Venetian Parade and fireworks.
